Dutch caravan producer Kip Caravans has announced that it is acquiring trailer tent manufacturing expert Campooz, in a deal it says will help it strengthen its position in the market and appeal to a wider audience.
Also from the Netherlands, Campooz is one of the largest companies of its kind in the country and specialises in lightweight, folding trailer tents that are well-known for rugged durability and ease of set-up. It was founded in Assen around a decade ago.
Henk Gunnink, Managing Director of Kip Caravans, said: “[Campooz is] A perfect addition to our adventure offer. Lightweight camping and adventurous camping experiences are central to both brands, which offers joint opportunities for the future.
“In addition, the trailer truck fits well with the trend of electric driving, for which our lightweight caravans are also ideally suited.”
Both Kip Caravans and Campooz have their manufacturing facilities based in the Northeastern Dutch province of Drenthe, which should help to make this acquisition a smooth process.
Thomas Gunnik, member of the board at Kip Caravans, added: “With Campooz, we are adding a new segment to our portfolio.
“Their expertise in innovative and adventurous trailers fits perfectly with our ambition to offer the ideal solution for every adventurous camper, from caravan to trailer tent.”
The two companies will begin working collaboratively in the coming months to develop new, innovative and sustainable camping products for the Dutch and European market.
Kip Caravans manufactures a wide range of caravans in Hoogeveen, Drenthe, in the Netherlands. It has a long history that can be traced back to when Jan Kip started a bodyshop in 1934. He built his first caravan in 1947 and the first standard Kip Caravans were produced and dispatched shortly after in 1949.
