New motorhome registrations in Sweden for the period from January to August this year stand at 3,215, which is 49.33 per cent higher than the same period in 2024.
This data was revealed by Sweden’s national industry association Husvagns & Husbilsbranschens Riksförbund alongside figures for the month of August, which show that the market remains buoyant in the Scandinavian country.
New motorhome registrations in Sweden for August were recorded at 396, which is 18.23 per cent higher than August 2024, while new caravan registrations stood at 123.
Year-on-year caravan registrations in Sweden for the period January to August stand at 1,119, which is 14.58 per cent lower than 1,310 from the same period in 2024.
“New caravan registrations started the year weakly, and the effects of the economic downturn, interest rate concerns and the threat of a trade war have caused some caravan customers to hold off on new investments,’ said Per Nilsson, Chairman of Husvagns & Husbilsbranschens Riksförbund.
“However, we are now seeing renewed interest in caravans, and despite the decline in August, we have recovered some of the ground lost at the beginning of the year.
“Interest in new motorhomes continues to grow and attract new customer groups. The willingness to invest in a new motorhome has not been affected as much by the current economic situation.”
The caravanning industry in Sweden is now preparing for its annual trade fair at Elmia near Jönköping from 10 to 14 September, for which advance tickets have been selling well according to Per Nilsson.
He added: “Ticket sales for the trade fair campsite are higher this year, as is the number of advance tickets sold for the trade fair. All the signs we are seeing indicate that there will be a large number of visitors at the trade fair.”
