Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles to start supplying HOBBY

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWN) and the German caravan and motorhome manufacturer, HOBBY, have agreed on a long-term cooperation. As a first step, HOBBY will still be offering its own motorhome solutions based on the Crafter panel van from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in 2022. The new vehicles will be on display for the first time at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf in August.

Lars Krause, VWN board member responsible for sales and marketing: “We have seen a steadily growing trend in our motorhomes over the past few years. This not only applies to our California models, but to the entire industry. ‘Vanlife’ has become a real lifestyle. Therefore we are very much looking forward to the partnership with HOBBY. We are firmly convinced that our Crafter is an ideal base vehicle for HOBBY motorhomes.”

“The cooperation with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is trend-setting for the HOBBY-Fendt Group and opens up completely new possibilities for us,” says Bernd Löher, Managing Director of HOBBY. “The Crafter comes with all the features that our customers already know from their cars and value, especially in terms of safety. For HOBBY, it is the ideal time for the strategic expansion of the portfolio and entry into the premium segment of campervans – one of the rapidly growing categories in the leisure vehicle market,” Löher continues.

HOBBY has been producing caravans and mobile homes in Fockbek in northern Germany for 55 years – reliably, passionately, pioneering. At the traditional location in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein, 1,200 employees produce more than 15,000 leisure vehicles every year. 350 authorized dealers in all European countries and worldwide commercial agencies are on hand to offer Hobby customers advice and support. In addition to Hobby-Wohnwagenwerk Ing. Harald Striewski GmbH, the Hobby Group also includes Fendt-Caravan GmbH from Bavaria, the lightweight furniture construction specialist Formlight GmbH from North Rhine-Westphalia and Rendsburger Feuerverzinkerei GmbH.
