UK caravan industry grateful for announcement that campsites can reopen on 4th July

The UK caravan industry is extremely pleased to hear that the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has announced that campsites and holiday parks can open again from 4th July.

In response to the announcement, a joint statement from the Director Generals of the three leading names in the UK campsites and holiday parks sector (the Caravan and Motorhome Club, the Camping and Caravanning Club and the British Holiday & Home Parks Association) issued the following statement:

“Our three organisations were delighted to hear today’s announcement by Prime Minister Boris Johnson regarding the reopening of England’s hospitality sector on 4 July and his specific mention of campsites to cheers from the backbenches.

“The three organisations have been busy building plans for the re-opening of our campsites and holiday parks, and we are all looking forward to welcoming holidaymakers back. We hope it will be a bumper summer for UK holidays, which will be a key contributor to the nation’s economic recovery while also being essential for the health and wellbeing of individuals.”

The Swift Group, one of the largest caravan, motorhome and holiday home manufacturers in the UK commented:

“This is tremendous news for everyone who has been dreaming of breaking away and escaping on holiday, but please remember to always follow government advice and make your staycation a safe-cation.

“For Northern Ireland, the administration had previously announced the reopening of campsites on June 26, with Wales due to follow on July 13 and Scotland on July 15.”
