THOR and KOA partner for "Pick Up America" anti-litter campaign

Two leaders in the outdoor leisure sector in USA, Thor Industries, Inc™, the world’s largest RV manufacturer, and Kampgrounds of America (KOA), are partnering for a joint anti-litter ‘Pick Up America’ programme to encourage people to clear away rubbish to make sure the places and spaces they enjoy while travelling stay beautiful.

The programme’s first target is to remove a minimum of five tons of trash from public lands in the coming months.

As summer travelers enjoy their favorite outdoor activities at campgrounds and in RVs, THOR and KOA will encourage them to pick up garbage along the way. To keep track of progress, participants can go to PickUpAmerica.com and pledge how many bags of rubbish they will fill and dispose of, post their efforts on social media and engage with others participating in the programme.

Throughout the month of May, participating KOA campgrounds will help to kick off the program. Specially-branded bags can be picked up, filled and returned to participating KOA locations across the country. Participants are encouraged to post about their pick-up efforts on social media using #PickUpAmerica and tagging  @THORIndustries  and @KampgroundsofAmerica

“While people are enjoying our country’s parks and national landmarks, we wanted to inspire them to help keep these places beautiful for current and future campers,” said Bob Martin, President and CEO of THOR Industries.

“KOA shares our vision of protecting outdoor recreation and we know our combined forces on this project will motivate consumers to make real change to improve our environment,” added Bob Martin.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this wonderful effort,” said Toby O’Rourke, President and CEO of KOA. “The premise is so simple yet we know it will be incredibly effective at getting people outside and involved in the care of our public lands.”

The partnership between THOR and KOA will extend beyond 2019, as additional targets and initiatives will be announced after the first five-tonne goal is reached. In an effort to expand this initiative, THOR will also evaluate the potential for partnerships with other outdoor leaders who share the same values and vision.
