The numbers in Germany continue to be amazing

According to the press release of the CIVD (German Caravaning Industry Association) German holidaymakers’ enthusiasm for caravanning continues unabated in 2021. Since the beginning of the year, new registrations of leisure vehicles rose by more than 6 per cent. Around 75,000 motor caravans and caravans were newly registered, in the first seven months of the year – an all-time high.

Exports of German Leisure Vehicles Back to “Pre-Corona” Level
In the first half of the year, exports of German motor caravans and caravans also picked up strongly again. Due to the Corona pandemic, exports had fallen sharply last year. Production of German leisure vehicles also increased sharply in the first half of the year, after having to be temporarily scaled down last year due to the pandemic. Output is, thus, back at the record level of the “pre-Corona era”. Nevertheless, the caravanning industry is currently struggling with supply problems since stagnant supply chains as well as missing components and raw materials hamper production.

Renewed Increase in Sales of Used Motor Caravans and Caravans
Used motor caravans and caravans continue to sell like hot cakes in 2021. In the first seven months of the year, over 100,000 leisure vehicles changed hands. That is 1.4 percent more than in the same period last year. Together with the rising number of new registrations, this has also had an impact on the total vehicle population, which reached a new high of 1.4 million vehicles this year.

Back on a Record Run: Caravanning Industry with Sales Growth in the First Half-Year
The sales volume in the caravanning industry rose by more than 21 percent in the first half-year. In the first half of 2020, sales had been declining due to the Corona pandemic. In total, 6.8 billion euros have been turned over since January. The industry experienced the best half-year in its history and should close 2021 with a new record.
