Super B, the manufacturer of advanced lithium batteries for marine, automotive, recreation and industrial applications, has received the Confirmation of Product Type Approval from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for two of its products.
ABS Product Type Approval for the SB BCI-C1 and the SB12V160E-ZC batteries shows Super B’s commitment to delivering the highest-quality products.
ABS is a leading international classification organization devoted to promoting the security of life, property and the marine environment through the development and verification of standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine-related facilities.
To achieve the ABS Product Type Approval involved undertaking manufacturing and product design assessments for the lightweight lithium ion traction battery SB12V160E-ZC and the battery communication interface SB BCI-C1, intended for marine and offshore energy applications. This certification means that the batteries meet high ABS safety regulations and helps ship builders receive ABS type approval much faster when using Super-B products.
“Super B wants to provide the marine industry with safe, reliable and powerful energy solutions,” says Marc Borgers, CTO at Super B. “That is why we are proud that our batteries are recognized with ABS Type Approval. The marine market is an important sector for us. Along with our other international certifications, this approval proves our commitment to deliver the highest-quality products to our partners.”
The SB BCI-C1 is a device that gathers data from multiple Super B batteries and represents them as one single battery system. The SB12V160E-ZC is designed to replace the much heavier 250 to 320 Ah lead-acid battery and has a weight of 26.9 kg.
Super B batteries are based on Lithium Iron Phosphate technology (LiFePO4). This Lithium Ion technology is the safest Lithium Ion technology available today. On top of that, our bespoke casing and electronics further increase safety and durability.
Super B is headquartered in Hengelo, The Netherlands, where its batteries are also engineered and manufactured. The rest of the Super B team is located throughout Europe, with sales offices in most countries.
