People news at Lippert: Julie Markiewicz promoted to Vice President of Internal Audit and compliance, and Matthew Johnston appointed Managing Director of Lippert Marine Europe

Lippert Components, Inc. (Lippert™) has promoted Julie Markiewicz to Vice President of Internal Audit and Compliance and appointed Matthew Johnston as Managing Director of Lippert Marine Europe.

In her expanded role, Julie Markiewicz will assume responsibility over Enterprise Risk Management and Ethics/Corporate Compliance. She will maintain her prior responsibilities over audit and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Ms. Markiewicz earned her Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Manchester University and a Master of Science in accountancy from the University of Notre Dame. She is a Certified Public Accountant and has more than 18 years of audit experience, 11 of which were in public accounting at Ernst & Young in Chicago and Crowe LLP in South Bend. She started her career with Lippert in 2013.

Matthew Johnston will manage three Marine Group brands – Lewmar®, Trend®, and Taylor Made® Ireland, which includes two sites in the UK and one site in Ireland.

Johnston has more than 20 years of experience in the industry and has held several positions within Lewmar including Custom and OEM Sales Manager, Sales and Marketing Director, and most recently, Group Commercial Director for Lippert’s Marine Group. Since July 2019, he has acted as a Marine Group representative on the wider Lippert Corporate EU leadership board, further developing a skillset that provides a unique mix of commercial experience and having a proven record of operating within a lean management buy-out environment.

In his new role, Johnston will be responsible for growing the Marine Group footprint in Europe through innovative product development, creating new products, and supporting acquisitions. He is also looking forward to guiding the teams on their cultural journey as they grow and create a stronger, more agile group.

In his free time, Johnston enjoys hill walking, running, and mountain biking, and has also been a keen racing dinghy sailor and boater all of his life. Most recently, he has taken up powerboating with a classic 1960’s British powerboat. He deems himself a “self-professed petrol head” with a passion for cars built in the Edwardian era, and he can often be found driving a 1914 Edwardian racing car.
