Motorhome sales exceed 2024 total in the Netherlands as national show begins

Motorhome sales in the Netherlands from January to September 2025 have already surpassed the total number sold in 2024, according to new figures from the country’s caravan industry association Kampeer en Caravan Industrie (KCI) and mobility association BOVAG.

On the eve of the country’s most important caravanning exhibition, Kampeer en Caravan Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, it was announced that 2,558 new motorhomes have been registered in the Netherlands up to mid-September 2025, beating the 2,465 registered for the whole of 2024.

Roel Reineman, Chairman of the KCI, said: “The order books are well filled and there are some great offers to be found at the upcoming Camping and Caravan Fair, so I expect that in the last quarter we will push towards a historic high sales total of 3,000 new motorhomes in 2025.”

KCI and BOVAG also reported that 6,174 new caravans have left the showrooms of the Netherlands by mid-September, which is tracking slightly ahead of the 6,106 at the same period in 2024.

Rolf Reinders, Chairman of BOVAG, said: “These figures once again emphasise the Netherlands’ status as a typical caravan country. Nowhere else in Europe are sales figures rising, but for Dutch campers, the caravan remains the favourite.”

A record number of 633,802 caravans and motorhomes are now registered in the Netherlands (as of 1 September 2025), which is almost 12,000 more than a year ago. This total comprises 208,374 motorhomes and 425,945 caravans. By 1 September this year, specialist retailers had sold 12,479 used motorhomes and 11,156 second-hand caravans, meaning that sales of used vehicles have remained stable compared to previous years.

From 1 to 5 October this year, the Kampeer en Caravan Jaarbeurs show takes place in Utrecht and will showcase the very best of products in caravans, motorhomes, campervans, and accessories to the keen camping Dutch public. This year also represents the 60th edition of the show.
