Following the successful conclusion of its insolvency proceedings, German specialist in reception technology, Kathrein Digital Systems, has announced that it is now under the umbrella of Megasat Holding GmbH.
This new chapter for Kathrein DS, which began on 1 March 2026, sees the founder and Managing Director of Megasat Werke GmbH, Sven Melzer, become a shareholder in the company.
Sven is well-known to Kathrein, having had professional roots in the company and being a successful entrepreneur for more than 20 years.
“Kathrein is more than a brand for me – it’s a company that has shaped me professionally,” Sven Melzer (pictured above, centre) said.
“The successful completion of the procedure marks a clear restart for Kathrein DS, and I am pleased to accompany it together with Andreas Wimmer and Michael Auer. Both have been affiliated with the company for many years. Together, we will set new standards as a quality and technology brand and create sustainable added value for our customers.”
In a joint statement, Kathrein’s Andreas Wimmer (pictured above, left) and Michael Auer (pictured above, right), added: “After more than 100 years of company history, it will continue to be a clear responsibility to place employees, customers and suppliers at the centre of action. Kathrein will continue with the aspiration to ensure stability, reliability and a long-term perspective.”
Following this change for Kathrien, its headquarters will remain in Rosenheim in Southern Bavaria, and its logistics centre in Ulm in Baden-Württemberg will also be retained.
The company began life in 1919 as a small craft business and has grown to become one of the best-known companies in reception technology in Europe.
