Jayco Australia passes 8,000th leisure home production milestone

Jayco Leisure Homes in Australia is celebrating the production of its 8,000th home, marking an important milestone since it started manufacturing them in 1981.

Jayco produces its leisure homes at a dedicated plant in Dandenong South, near Melbourne. The 8,000th home sleeps up to eight people and involved the skills of over 50 tradespeople, across three different departments and took three weeks to build. It has been sold to a repeat client and is the 40th unit of this particular cabin model that has been specifically designed for them.

For over 25 years, Jayco has been creating Leisure Home and Park Cabins for holiday parks across Australia, including the three leading chains – BIG4 Holiday Parks, Top Tourist Parks and Family Parks of Australia. Invest in a Jayco Leisure Home or Park Cabin with peace of mind knowing you’re getting innovative design, a quality build and ongoing support.

Jayco manufactures most of the components required for its leisure homes including the Duragal chassis, wall frames, roof trusses, wardrobes and all kitchen cabinets on site. Its philosophy is to encourage the use of local suppliers for all building materials, appliances & plumbing hardware. Jayco
even employs a local furniture manufacturer to supply all of its lounge furniture using high quality materials and fabrics.

Jayco Australia has the largest recreational manufacturing facility in the Southern Hemisphere and employs a local workforce of over 1,000 people.
