Erwin Hymer Group lets its brands decide if they want to participate in CMT 2022

Last year, the Erwin Hymer Group (EHG) decided to cancel its participation in European Trade Fairs, and in March 2021 it announced the participation at the German main shows would now be every two years. This means that the CMT exhibition in Stuttgart in January 2022 should be EHG’s first official participation in a German show, so Aboutcamp BtoB asked if this will be the case, or not. This is the answer:

“The Erwin Hymer Group leaves it up to its brands to choose whether or not to participate in the CMT 2022. The main considerations behind this decision are as follows:

The current situation is not comparable with that from spring 2020 through fall 2021. The 2G+ rules that have been announced for the CMT in Stuttgart have made it possible to devise a trade fair format that makes it possible for visitors and staff to participate without taking an unwarranted risk to their health. We therefore assess as positive the safety measures put in place for the CMT in respect of providing maximum health protection.

The factor that speaks against participation is that the CMT could be cancelled at short notice due to the continued threat of overwhelming the healthcare system as a consequence of a rapid increase in infections over the coming weeks.

Equally – even if it were to go ahead as planned – it is possible that visitor interest during this phase of the pandemic, and in light of the applicable requirements (2G+), is so low that it would be difficult to realize a positive brand experience at the show.

Taking these factors into consideration, we are giving our brands the choice to make their own decision on whether or not they participate”.
