CIVD report shows caravan industry in Germany achieved third-best ever results for second half of year

According to the CIVD (the caravan industry association in Germany), demand for motor caravans and caravans remained high in Germany in the second half of the year (to the end of November) but not at the same levels as the previous year in terms of new registrations due to supply chain issues and the industry-wide shortage of personnel. Between January and November, 63,828 (-18 percent) motor caravans and 23,684 (-1.7 percent) caravans were newly registered in Germany. Overall, the caravan industry in Germany still managed to achieve its third-best result ever for this period.

Compared to the same period last year, new caravan registrations were up a strong 12.6 percent in November. With a total of 23,684 new registrations in the period from January to November, the sector is just under 1.7 percent below the previous year’s level. Due to a lack of vehicle chassis for motor caravans, numerous manufacturers have increasingly focused on the production of caravans this year.

New registrations of motor caravans were down 23.5 percent (3,250 units) in November compared to the same month last year. A total of 63,828 motor caravans were newly registered in Germany by the end of November. This is the third-best result in the history of the industry for this period and still significantly exceeds the figures from the pre-Corona years. However, manufacturers are particularly short of vehicle chassis, which is why there are delays in the production and delivery of vehicles.
