Carthago invests €7m in extension to its headquarters and creates new jobs

The Carthago Group is remaining on course for growth of its Carthago and Malibu motorhome brands with an investment of €7m in an extension to its headquarters in Carthago City in Aulendorf/Upper Swabia, Germany.

The new building will have state-of-the-art equipment and provide 80 additional workrooms, plus extension options for an additional 40 workplaces, and blends in perfectly with the existing architecture.

Employees will benefit from ergonomically exemplary workplaces and a new and inviting company restaurant. The multi-million investment includes a re-design of the parking spaces on the factory premises with numerous charging stations for E-cars and E-bikes.

The Carthago Group moved into its current headquarters in Carthago City eight years ago. It included offices, a manufacturing area, showroom, service centre, spare part centre and motorhome pitches for visitors – and the entire system was erected on the greenfield site in record time.

The company has expanded rapidly since then. The newly established sister brand Malibu successfully extended the Carthago range with vans and motorhomes in the upper middle class in 2013. Development of the Carthago product range, a leading premium motorhome brand in Europe, also continued. As a result, the workforce at the two locations in Aulendorf and Odranci/Slovenia also increased by around 800 to a total of about 1500 employees.

Now, Carthago City has followed the growth trend and the associated additional tasks. The new building which has now been moved into is arranged parallel to the previous company headquarters and is linked to it by a glazed walkway. It organically blends into the existing building complex with its architecture, its four storeys and its colour scheme.

The new build has increased the office area from 3400 to 5400 m². A total of 120 workrooms have been added on three storeys, 80 of which are initially being occupied. The following applies to both the building and the motorhomes of the company group: state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment. 60 km of data cables run through the new building alone. A stable 10 GB connection to the computer centre is available to all employees via more than 350 installed ports. Cooling ceilings, optimum WLAN connection, open meeting areas and materials such as wood and glass are the basis for a pleasant working atmosphere. There are also areas for short stays with a free supply of fresh water and ergonomically perfect workplaces with tables with adjustable height.

All Carthago City employees benefit from a new company restaurant on the ground floor of the building. It is invitingly decorated with natural materials. The meals are freshly prepared in front of the employees. During the summer months, the employees can use the additional large outdoor seating and lounge facilities.

As part of the total investment of seven million Euros in the extension, Carthago is also currently revising the parking spaces on the factory premises. The main focus is the increasing trend towards electromobility. In the future, there will be a bicycle carport with charging columns for E-bikes and 30 charging ports for electric vehicles.

An inviting and large glazed entrance area at the junction of the two administrative buildings will form the completion of the construction work during the spring.
