Caravan Industry Victoria cancels the 2021 Bendigo Caravan & Camping Leisurefest

The Caravan Industry Victoria has announced that the 2021 Bendigo Caravan & Camping Leisurefest has been cancelled.

The team at Caravan Industry Victoria had been working to the best of their ability with limited information from the Victorian Government to get Bendigo Caravan & Camping Leisurefest ready, however, the lifting of restrictions came in just too late to allow for the Association, exhibitors and the venue to pull together the iconic Bendigo event.

The Association’s governing Council considered all options and left the final decision to the last possible moment to the event every opportunity to go ahead in late November.

For the Association to operate the Bendigo Caravan & Camping Leisurefest to the highest standard, the Association requires a clear six-week period before the event commences to be able to logistically operate. Though the Victorian Government has announced a Roadmap to Reopening there continues to be no full details on how the event industry will operate, particularly for roaming events which has impacted the ability to plan or run the Bendigo Caravan & Camping Leisurefest TM in a short period of time.

CEO Rob Lucas said, “The Association had been closely monitoring the covid situation with State Government officials and the Bendigo Race club and saw the changes coming to Victoria’s State Government restrictions, lockdowns, and the Victorian Public Events Framework however, the official announcement came to late to operate our event. but it was all a little too late to conduct our event. It is disappointing to be in this position again as we prepare to wind up 2021 with the easing of restrictions and renewed optimism from all in Victoria.”

“The Association wants to thank everyone for continually supporting the events and industry members during this time. There are future industry caravan & camping shows planned for 2022 with all shows expected to make a big comeback. Details for these shows can be found at gomakesomememories.com.au/shows,
Caravanshow.com.au, ciavic.com.au. gomakesomememories.com.au. Caravan Industry Victoria can’t wait to have consumers back at a show so they can plan to get outta here!” added Lucas.

In another major announcement, Caravan Industry Victoria launched its Exhibitor Applications for the 2021 Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow which will be conducted from Wednesday 6 April – Sunday 10 April back at the Melbourne Showgrounds. This will be a great opportunity for exhibitors to get in front of eager customers as we see border restrictions ease, and more to come, encouraging more national travel.
