Belgian Vanlife Index showcases a strong motorhome market

A new data index has been created in Belgium to track and monitor the current state of the country’s motorhome market.

Based on data from FPS Mobility and Statbel, the Belgian Vanlife Index 2026 has been created by independent website VanlifeBelgië and provides a verifiable overview of Belgium’s motorhome market and a broader tourism context.

Some key stats from the index include that the Belgian motorhome fleet stands at 77,107 units as of 2024, which is a 30 per cent increase from 2019; that 15,706 registration transactions took place in Belgium during 2025; and that 3,741,216 overnight stays were recorded in Belgium in 2025.

Of the 15,706 transactions in 2025, 5,378 were new motorhomes, while 10,328 were used. The index also includes a breakdown of registered motorhomes by province or region.

“Belgium’s motorhome fleet grew by 30.6 per cent in five years, reaching 77,107 registered vehicles at the end of 2024,” explained Laurens De Leeuw, Founder of VanlifeBelgië.

“That does not mean there was a sales boom: stock figures and registration transactions measure different things. By publishing the method and underlying downloads openly, VanlifeBelgië wants to give travellers, public authorities and the RV sector a shared, transparent evidence base for better decisions.”

VanlifeBelgië used official sources of data in Belgium to compile this independent data report and claims that it regularly checks those sources and makes relevant updates when any corrections occur.

The website is available in Dutch, French, and English.
