Annual report shows LAMILUX holds ground despite challenging environment

Skylights and composites manufacturing expert LAMILUX Heinrich Strunz Group has published its annual report for 2024 – a year in which the German company claims to have held its ground in a challenging environment.

Despite challenges including a 0.2 per cent shrinking of the German economy, rising energy costs, and cautious consumer behaviour, LAMILUX reported a sales increase of 0.9 per cent to €357 million for 2024. Included within this were record sales in the skylight systems segment.

Another noteworthy statistic from 2024 was that LAMILUX increased the total number of its employees from 1,276 to 1,335, including 91 trainees. The company places a strong emphasis on professional and personal development for its employees and runs a successful Education for Excellence (E4E) programme.

In 2024, a new round of Training for Excellence was launched, offering tailored pathways for experts and leaders – whether in specialist roles, leadership positions, or project-based careers. LAMILUX’s commitment to this saw the company named as a Top Company 2024 by employer review platform Kununu.

Dr Alexander Strunz (pictured below, right), Managing Director of LAMILUX, said: “Together with our committed and efficient team and a clear growth strategy, LAMILUX has not only managed to grow in terms of turnover, but also increased market share further strengthening our position, even in a difficult market environment.”

Meanwhile, fellow Managing Director Johanna Strunz (pictured below, left) added: “By focusing on technical innovations, process optimisation and cross-business model solutions as well as the high level of expertise in both divisions, we have not only been able to assert ourselves as a performance leader, but have also established a solid market position through continuous further development.”

Innovations help strengthen composites sector

While the skylights sector of LAMILUX’s business was one of the highlights of 2024, the composites division, for which it has many applications in the leisure vehicle industry, endured a challenging year.

LAMILUX reported a slight recovery in the US market for its composites business but endured a decline in sales in both Europe and Australia. “As a premium provider, we are faced with the challenge that price is playing an increasingly central role for many customers. This makes it all the more important to clearly communicate our added value,” explained Johanna Strunz.

The company made investments in its business units to combat this and managed to open up some new markets. It also presented innovative solutions for fibre-reinforced plastics to an international audience by participating in leading industry trade fairs such as the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf and the IAA Transportation in Hanover.

Despite the challenging market conditions, LAMILUX claims to have strengthened its market position in the composites division and provided valuable impetus for the future.

A bright future

LAMILUX is actively committed to promoting young talent and securing the next generation of skilled workers by utilising a series of targeted initiatives and events aimed at career guidance and youth development.

These include ‘Eine Stadt spielt MINT’ and ‘Coding Kids’, which sparked interest in STEM professions (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), inspiring young people to pursue technical and scientific careers.

At CONTACTA HochFranken – the region’s largest careers and study information fair – around 1,100 pupils gained valuable insights into different career paths. LAMILUX played a key role in shaping and co-organising the event, which fostered dialogue between students, businesses, and universities. Additionally, with the “students4students” programme at the X-mas Reunion 2024, the company helped connect alumni and current students, encouraging the exchange of real-life job experiences.
