AL-KO Vehicle Technology Electronics introduces new DC/DC converter from Nordelettronica to stabilise alternator charging for batteries

The new DC/DC converter NE325 from AL-KO Vehicle Technology Electronics, available in 25 A or 40 A versions, stabilizes alternator charging for batteries (lead, gel, AGM or lithium) to protect battery health.

In today’s motorhomes, an increasing number of functions depend on electrics, which are subjected to continuous and strenuous operation, however, thought is rarely given to the quality of the current from the engine alternator, which is important when it comes to protecting battery health.

In response to this challenge, Nordelettronica – a brand of AL-KO Vehicle Technology Electronics Group – presents the new DC/DC converter NE325, designed to optimise the flow and voltage of direct charging current of the auxiliary battery.

Alternators, and those of Euro 6 engines in particular, often supply a charging voltage that is too low: a device like the DC/DC converter NE325 stabilises its flow, maintaining it constantly in the optimal charging range between 13.5 and 14.7 V. In the case of increasingly popular lithium batteries, which have a lower internal resistance level, the converter is necessary to prevent short circuiting of the alternator, to protect the system from overheating and prevent potential damage to these components.

The Nordelettronica NE325 converter is fitted with four different charging profiles and can power lead, gel, AGM and lithium batteries. A three-colour LED provides at-a-glance information on the operating status. Electric protectors are fitted against power surges, polarity inversion, short circuits, overcharging, over-heating and excess output current.

NE325 is available in two versions: NE325 25 A and NE325 40 A, respectively 25 or 40 Amperes of output current; the latter is also fitted with a cooling fan with speed modulated by the system. The DC/DC converter NE325 by Nordelettronica is compact in size and lightweight (167 x 170 x 73 mm and just 1.5 kg), for easy positioning and installation.
