90,365 RV's were registered in Germany in 2023

In 2023, a total of 90,365 leisure vehicles were newly registered in Germany. Following the record results of the first few years of the pandemic, the market has normalised as expected by the industry.

With 68,469 new motor caravan registrations and 21,896 new caravan registrations, the German caravanning industry is below the exceptional record figures from 2020 and 2021, but despite numerous challenges, the annual result was good overall, as the Caravaning Industrie Verband reported at its annual press conference.

German manufacturers produce over 133,000 leisure vehicles
As in previous years, the German caravanning industry continued to produce under difficult conditions in 2023. Overall, more vehicles were produced than in the previous year. Export figures fell slightly.

15.3 billion euros – German caravanning industry reports revenue increase
The German caravanning industry recorded revenue of more than 15 billion euros last year. Revenue increased by around 8.8 per cent compared to 2022.

European market: over 200,000 new registrations once again
Interest in caravanning remains high across Europe. However, fewer leisure vehicles were registered in 2023 than in the previous year due to difficult general conditions. Nevertheless, the 200,000 mark for new registrations was exceeded once again.

Caravanning holidaymakers generate record revenue for the German economy
Caravanning is more than just a long term holiday trend; it has long since developed into an important tourism and economic factor in Germany: Caravanning holidaymakers have brought the German economy an annual revenue of over 18 billion euros.

Caravanning industry seeks to recruit more skilled labour
The demand for skilled labour among vehicle manufacturers and dealers is high. The industry is focusing on proactive measures to attract potential employees to this diverse sector. This includes the first industry-specific vocational education.
